community engagement.

Planning a development? We help you bring the community along. We deliver the applicant-side community engagement for development proposals - understanding the people around your project, communicating it clearly, and surfacing the right conversations early.

don’t leave the conversation to chance.

Development creates change and change creates questions. And if people don’t hear the story clearly, they’ll often fill in the gaps themselves.

That’s where we come in. We help you understand who your project affects, what they need to know, and how best to talk to them. From early stakeholder mapping to plain-English project materials, engagement planning, community updates and feedback reporting, we make sure your proposal is explained clearly, calmly and at the right time.

Good engagement doesn’t mean everyone will agree. It means people feel informed, heard and respected - and you get the insight you need before small concerns become big problems.

why community engagement matters.

It builds trust early. People are more likely to listen when they feel they have been brought into the conversation, not added at the last minute.

Makes complex projects easier to understand. We turn planning language, technical details and design intent into clear communication people can actually use.

Helps you understand the local context. Every place has its own history, pressure points, priorities and personalities. We help you read the room before you walk into it.

It surfaces the right conversations early. Questions, concerns and opportunities are much easier to manage before they become formal objections.

Supports a smoother approvals process. Clear communication and well-documented engagement can help show how your project has considered the people around it.

Protects your project story. If you don’t explain what’s happening, someone else will. We help you communicate with care, clarity and confidence.

FAQs

When should we start community engagement?
Earlier than you think. Before lodgement, ideally while the proposal is still taking shape. Once formal advertising is underway, positions harden fast and you're playing catch-up. Get in early and you're leading the conversation, not reacting to it.

Is community engagement required for every development proposal?
Not always. The statutory consultation runs regardless - that's on the decision-maker. Applicant-led engagement is your call. For a small, straightforward project, it may not be necessary. For anything significant or visible? It's one of the smartest things you can do before you lodge.

Do you work for the applicant or the community?
We work for you and we're upfront about that. But working for the applicant doesn't mean telling people only what they want to hear. Good engagement means listening properly and reporting honestly, including the uncomfortable bits. That honesty is what makes it worth doing.

What if the community is already unhappy about the proposal?
Then engagement matters more, not less. Concern is information, it tells you exactly where to focus. We can't turn opposition into support, and we won't promise to. What we can do is help you understand what's driving it, respond to what can be responded to, and make sure people feel heard. That changes things.

Can you help with just the communication materials?
Yes. If you already have a plan and just need clear, plain-English materials - fact sheets, letters, FAQs, a project page, we can do that on its own. Though we add the most value when we do both. Happy to scope it to what you actually need.
